On occasion I have heard announcers and college/pro level pitchers say "They found they were pitching better now that they are throwing slower".
My question is do you believe that certain ball spin matches best at certain Velocity? Do you need to give the ball time to move? Do you get the best...
How common are high school tournaments in your area?
The ones I am seeing here in Texas (Dallas Area) are taking Thur, Friday, and Sat with seemingly no regard to going to class on those days.
It seems like the top high schools are playing in them every weekend until district play starts, has...
Do you ever practice for imperfect ground surfaces?
Meaning is it a good idea to mess up the landing area and start adjusting your pitching motion for this anomaly? The adjustments I am thinking of off-hand are starting at a different spot on the rubber, and jumping out a shorter distance.
I see game changer (under pitcher advanced) has a Ground Out/Air Out stat that it keeps up with for pitchers.
Do you have any thoughts on interpreting this stat?
Can we say with any certainty that riseball(up in the zone) pitchers will always have more Air outs than ground outs?
From what...
I have 2 questions in regards to pitching mats being attached to outdoor dirt fields.
1. Is anything written down in any set of rules that allows for this? Who determines the length? Should they be attached on all 4 corners? Is it ok to pull up the matt and smooth the dirt surface?
2...
Do you think 1st base gloves should be broken in with 1 hinge or 2?
Do you think the design of the glove dictates how many hinges the glove should have?
Does 2 hinges make the glove play more like an outfield glove?
Do you think 1st base gloves should be played with 2 in the pinky?
Do you...
Just curious if anyone is teaching leaping? Is Kelly Barnhill's or Jordy Bahl's style going to be the prototype? Who will be the next Amanda Scarborough of Youtube slow motion fastpitch perfection? Is the men's pitching game our best example now of what we will see in future years as we now...
Every HR swing from the 2023 WCWS
After seeing every HR from 2023 WCWS. Anyone have thoughts? Pitch location, Swings, Hot bats, Where the batters are setting up....
Why are we seeing Top Level pitchers with a starting stance with one foot directly behind the other. Example Jordy Bahl, Alex Storako among others.
I do not see why this would be advantageous. I have not seen a pitching coach that suggests that starting stance and I do not know of any other...
When using the "Ball in Glove" method / No backswing at what point do you believe the ball should come out of the glove? Do you think there would be a speed loss due to when the ball is actually removed from the glove ie is 5 o'clock better than 1 o'clock?
I have heard of exchange students coming to the US and playing sports. Has anyone had experience with sending their DD (US student) to another country (Outside of the US) for an exchange year? Were sports involved while they were away? How did it work out for your DD?
Is there such a thing as Squeezing the Glove during a catch with the wrong fingers? Do coaches actually watch for this detail?
This is a general question about catching the ball please exclude the situations with very young beginners, or practicing quick transfers.
I am aware that you can not truly recreate game pressure but what things can you do to simulate game pressure? I am looking for things you can do during individual practice.
After watching the WCWS for another year and seeing more bullet spin/gyro pitches, has the WCWS shown that the most important qualities of a pitch are :
1. Speed 2. Spot and then 3. Spin?
What is the logic behind only using the on-deck circle closest to the dugout regardless of which side of the plate the batter is hitting from? Save time?
In light of the bad experiences that umpires have received from coaches, could we just make a rule for Coaches that want an audience with an umpire goes to the warm up circle and wait for the umpire to approach them? Just seems like we need a better process for umpire interactions.
