Do coaches even care about defense anymore? Has hitting really become the only criteria in recruiting? Has the if you can hit, you will play thing over done?
Watched a Coastal Carolina vs. Southern Mississippi game. Box score had 6 errors but there were actually at least 10 real errors. Sloppy...
Do coaches make mistakes when recruiting? How often? What happens to the players? Does it happen at P5 schools too?
Example: Coach recruits big strong player after watching her play well in TB. But when she get to college she simply cant hit 65 mph pitching. Or coach recruits pitcher throwing...
Gotta be fair rule. When the batter has two strikes she is allowed 3 foul balls. After 3 foul balls any batted ball must be hit in fair territory. Any ball hit in foul territory will be considered as strike three.
Who's with me? Played a team with 5 slappers. Some of their ABs were 13 plus...
OK, all you TD out there. Why do you create schedules with multiple game breaks? I can kind of understand one game break for rest and eating but 8:30 am/1:00pm/5:30pm schedules stink. Our team is in a Showcase this coming weekend and I thought we got a horrible schedule but when I reviewed other...
Coaches, how do you handle 16U players missing practice and/or games on a Saturday due to a HS Volleyball Tourney or a club flag football game? Do they get less play time on Sunday? How about missing due to a party, prom, homecoming? Where do you draw the line?
Runner on 1st. Batter squares to bunt. Ball goes practically straight up about 7 feet high (if left alone probably lands foul in other batters box). Batter while still in box retaps the ball foul disallowing the catcher a chance to catch the ball in the air for an out and most likely double...
So if your DD is going onto a tourney or showcase expecting to see 63 plus mph, how do you prepare her?
My only answer is the pitching machine. Turn it up to as fast as it will go and have her hit. I have seen many hitters that kill coach pitch but when velo gets up they tighten up and swing...
From another thread but I thought it could use it own thread.
What stuff would she do in the weight room which is, at the very least, not very productive and at it's worse, counterproductive?
And what could she do in the weight room that would be most productive?
I am hoping to hear replies...
Did anyone happen to attend CO coach's dinner with keynote speaker Patti Gasso?
Thoughts?
It was painfully long, poorly presented and extremely boring. The sound system stunk and presenters didn't know how to speak into a microphone. There were ( my estimatiom) about 1200 coaches in attendance...
Wish I could get all of my player to buy in and get cocky.

Thoughts on this swing. The pelvis and the shoulder chassis have a ton of separation. Hope his back stays healthy.
What do you expect out of your 16u catcher? Besides good receiving/framing (which I don't see very often especially if there is a base runner), good pop times and cheerleader for the pitcher.
Pitch calling?
Calling back picks?
Calling bunt coverage?
1st and 3rd plays?
Deciding and calling out...
Why would a top D1 college coach have a pitcher throw 191 pitches. The kicker is, she gave up the most probable game winning 3 run jack on her 185th pitch in top of 12th. Why does a coach leave her in to face another batter? Unbelievably stupid. And why doesn't the crowd give her a standing...
I saw Cal Poly vs Fresno St., Minnesota upset Oregon, UCLA beat UCF (2 to1 on a walk off error), Michigan vs LSU, LSU vs LMU. This was a great seesaw battle with LSU coming out on top, but LMU had had the tying run on third and winning run on second with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th. Great...
Is there a best route/ pattern to drag the field? Water before or after you drag?
Also,
Does it upset you (like it does me) to have a coach take pregame infield with 7 to 10 players standing and fielding exactly where the SS is going to play? I have seen an ump (at my request) chase them off...
