    Tagging a Force Out question

If they don't know they are applying the rule incorrectly, what will help them learn to do it properly? Yes, the protest is a valid way to help an umpire get better. Otherwise, they could make the same mistake repeatedly. And, a protest is only for when an umpire insists upon misapplying a...

    Tagging a Force Out question

I think 8u should be played without umpires, but.... If you have umpires, how is failing to protest a misapplied rule going to make that umpire better? If you understand a proper protest, not arguing calls, you should always protest when rules are called wrong if you want better officiating...

    Passed Ball or Wild Pitch?

The official scorer shall charge a pitcher with a wild pitch when a legally delivered ball touches the ground or home plate before reaching the catcher and is not handled by the catcher, thereby permitting a runner or runners to advance. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

Influencing the Ball Without Touching It

I found some funny MLB videos and one showed a 3rd baseman trying to blow a bunted ball foul. It got me thinking, which is something I probably shouldn't do. What if you know you can't get a throw to first in time and you approach a slow roller along the file line and quickly use your foot...

Mississippi will be the first state to require the four most dangerous positions (including catcher) to wear face masks in High School.

https://www.athleticbusiness.com/high-school/missouri-mandates-pitching-masks-in-hs-softball.html Missouri and Kentucky beat them. Catchers were already required to wear them. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

    Index finger padding?

I warmup 2-3 pitchers every game. I put 2 fingers in the pinky slot and then index finger is outside and moved out 1 spot. (Where the bird finger goes). Helps a lot. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

    Batter interference on a walk

Not 8.2.g, she is a very novice player. Doubt she knew the runner was coming and was very surprised at the collision with the ball and catcher. 8.2.f, likely. Collision happened on top of home plate, she was out of the box. I thought this rule applied to catcher's throwing though. Sent from...

    Batter interference on a walk

Yeah. This is what I said, just with less tact. :) Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

    Batter interference on a walk

I'm probably missing something, but by reading this to be accurate. Why should the defense ever have a rundown? Shouldn't they just line up with the runner and toss the ball at them to avoid having to tag them? Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

    Batter interference on a walk

Yes. Batter was inexperienced and didn't move till Blue told her to take her base. She ran right into the ball and the catcher ran into her back. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

    Batter interference on a walk

Just had a batter walk with a runner on third. Runner stole home on the catcher's throw to the pitcher. Blue was slow to call ball 4. When she did, batter started for first and ran into the throw coming back from the pitcher. Blue called runner out for interference. Did the batter have a...

    Question in a tag

I'm saying out since both hands are together. To call safe, you now get into "what's in the glove"? interpretations that overcomplicate the game. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

    Obstruction

I know the rule states that a runner cannot be called out between the bases where obstruction occured. So she gets third if she goes for it. I don't think obstruction guarantees Amy further base, even if it was obvious she could have made it without obstruction. Others that know better than me...

Stepping off to start new inning

As others have said, if you time limit games the clock is now part of the game. Football has many strategies to manage the clock. The odds of scoring a run with a runner on 1st and 2 outs are pretty long. I haven't been in this situation yet. I have, however, endured opposing coaches changing...

    New glove opinions

You did not "blow it" with this glove. My DD likes this glove as much as her Liberty Advanced gloves. She has a LA catcher's mitt and 11 3/4 fielder's glove for pitching. We bought the 12 1/2 GG Elite for center field, but she also uses it at short stop. She has never had a truly high end...

    Ever do side trips ?

Last year, and probably this year too, we do only two tournaments far enough away to stay overnight. We turn both of them into mini vacations. One is the King's Island Showdown and the entry fee includes tickets to the park on Monday. The other is in Pigeon Forge and we do all the touristy...

    # innings for a middle school game

We have A and B games. Both are 1 hour or 7 innings. Anyone can play A team, 8th grade can't play B team. This rule is regularly ignored if a school is short of players. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
