In the fall what speeds would you expect to see in 12U Class A ball? Especially in the Atlanta area.

My DD throws a legit 50-52. Wondering if she is over her head in Class A ball.

In 12U? Nope. Not at all. Teams should be lining up for legit 50mph 12U pitchers.

Legit btw means 'IN GAMES" not 'IN PRACTICE' just so we are on the same page. Most pitchers seem to lose at least 3-6mpg in games...

We finished top ten in 14U ASA nationals and neither of our pitchers were more than 52 at the time. We still regularly see 52 in 16U-A. Of course sometimes the parents or coaches call it '58' or '60' but it is low to mid-50's.

Mix speeds, hit spots intelligently, move the ball consistently and don't walk or hit too many (and add in some good defense) and she will be more than fine.

My DD was @ 50 MPH at 12U, but it took a little while to adjust from the 11" to 12" ball, so it was probably upper 40's in the Fall when she moved up, and lower 50's in the Spring after she had 3-4 months of experience with the 12" ball.

My DD's team played top level A 14u for our state. Their #1 could hit, on her best day, around 55. I believe I only saw "close" to 60 twice the entire season. What won games was hitting spots and an effective change up. One girl that guested with us often, probably didn't hit 50. However, she could hit her spots all day long and her pitches had a sh*t ton of spin. She was highly effective.

On the other hand, one of those pitchers I'd say that was maybe hitting 60, didn't have anything but speed. I never saw a change up. This was at our state's "world series". I think the other team put up 8 runs on her by the end of the 2nd inning.

DD will be a third year 12U player. The past two years we have played in a 3 hour radius. She has made a Class A team that is going to travel a little more and not sure what we are getting into. DD has my genetics and is an average athlete but works very hard. Throws strikes and locates the fastball well, good curve ball and change has great movement and deception but inconsistent in the strike zone. Drop and rise are not ready. Working hard on them now along with the change.

Accuracy beats speed every time. Can she spot?

Normally locates the FB really well. No walks the last tournament. 10 innings pitched. Guessing but probably 2 or 3 walks the last 30 innings. Throwing in and out.
