    Big fish in small pond

I no longer have a dog in the fight and I'm not trying to be offensive but reading your OP gave the tone of condescension with some sour grapes mixed in for emphasis. Perhaps that is why you are being questioned.

    Showcase Rant

NE's Finest is a great tourney but you need to be playing at the top two locations. IF not get your player in one of the Allstar games. They are played at the main complex and have LOTS of coaches. I do question why a B team would even pony up that kind of money when the return is sure to not...

    Team reneges after extending offer

While it sucks to have to go hat in hand to the second team, it happens. I had to do it after DD was offered a spot and we turned it down. Through no fault of coach 1 the team she wanted to join could not continue. It's not fun but it's either that or start from scratch with some other teams.

What to Watch for In the Olympic Softball Games

I was impressed by the defensive work of Japan getting the lead runner at second and turning the dbl play.

Know a pitcher who threw mostly change ups?

we had a young lady that lived on the change up. She could throw it for strikes which forced the batter to defend. She'd throw it back to back for strikeouts and we'd howl in the bleachers. I actually felt bad for some of the kids that struck out multiple times to this kid.

Anyone witness any "Hissy Quits" this summer?

Years ago in NC our team imploded on the last day. Our coach asked a substitute pitcher to come help us out. She played 0 innings the whole time we were there. The mom is a nice woman but was livid after spending that much money to help out and not play an inning. The No 3 was scheduled to...

    Can't decide on a bat

For that age, I'm a fan of the Bustos -13. You can find them used for about 30-50 dollars. Composit handle and bouncy aluminum barrel.

    Fury Platinum

Normally I'd shy away from a new franchise in your area UNLESS, the head coach is a known entity. Example. Ken Fry of the East Coast Elite acquired a Batbusters franchise and they have done well. Small one or two team orgs often have trouble attracting large numbers to tryouts. Having a...

    Fury Platinum

If your DD is all that, reach out to Dave Lotti. If she can make his team or even the next level down she will be seen by plenty of coaches. That way you don't have to wonder about what you're getting. Rhode Island Thunder.

Where to get equipment at fly away tournaments

I'm guessing you are new to travel tourneys. Parents that make the trips usually forego all those things. That's one reason it's so expensive to make these trips. I carried a backpack cooler with those freezer bags. They freeze in the hotel over night and keep few drinks cool. Sun screen...

    Why are you here?

For me, I debated staying after DD went to College but then I felt I still had something to contribute and some more about her decision to attend an SA (D1 and DIII recruited player) and play what was offered which was club ball. She ended up on the back to back NCSA championship team. She...

    pondering move to drop 9

Not doubting the chart but the differences I could feel where in the end loading of the Xeno vs the balanced weight of the LXT. I guess I should also point out that the Xeno is now 6 years old and the LXT 5. Speaking of which, the Xeno is in primo shape if someone is interested.

    pondering move to drop 9

DD is/was 5'7 and weighed approx 135. She was swinging an Xeno 33/10. I purchased the LXT 33/9 and she never noticed any difference due to the LXT being balanced vs the end loaded Xeno. In my years of seeking the perfect bat for DD and I have bought a number, the bat they swing best is the...

    Shorts vs. Pants

A couple of years ago I saw a team wearing shorts at Huntington Beach. This was after most everyone had been wearing pants for a few years. I inquired and they stated they were from AZ and playing in 110 temps, they preferred the shorts. I had to agree. Like moving to metal cleats, DD never...

Why are some D3 teams better than others?

DD's facitlies were not great, heck they weren't DIII but they were back to back NSCA Champions. DD was an Honors Applied Mathematics major with a 4.0. They were and are the power house team on the Mid Atantic region. Getting in the school is the big achievement. Playing Softball is gravey...
