Looking for outfield drills to charge through the ball
Coaching a 16u team and my outfielders are hesitant to charge fly balls, which lets some that should be caught, fall. Regular season is over. Daughter ended up throwing 24 innings this year. She started 3 games and came in 1 other game because they were losing only to have the team come back and win. So she was 4-0, 24 innings, 32k's, 4BB's, 2.43 ERA with an opponent BA of .219. So she did get some innings...- Frost033

Figured I would write another update. My daughter finally got in the circle tonight. She pitched 5 innings. Had 9 Ks, 1 walk, 4 hits and 2 earned runs. She also got to hit and was 2-3 with 2 RBI, a single and double. Hopefully this is the start of more time in the circle. I'm not sure who...- Frost033

The team is 4-2 currently. In the 2 losses it was clear by the 5th inning it wasn't going to end well as they were down by several runs. And thank you for the advice, I keep trying to remind myself that travel ball is just around the corner and it will be different but having my kid come home...- Frost033

I won't sit here and tell you my daughter is the best or anything, but she's more than competent at pitching and IS sitting the bench with 0 innings on the season. For her travel team last summer she threw 99 innings and had a 2.78 ERA and an opponent BA of .227. 115 K's, 12 walks.- Frost033

This is pretty much where I'm at. I don't think the coach is necessarily being abusive or mean on purpose. I suppose I would describe their BP as a game situation BP since one of the coaches calls her pitches the whole time. She's never been told to "just throw strikes" so they can hit it or anything. She's been a pitcher since she was 8 and has worked hard to get to where she's at. On her travel team she's their #1 pitcher and does awesome there. Her travel team has 3 other pitchers so even though she's their "#1" there is a rotation so she doesn't start every game or pitch every inning...- Frost033

During practice she is put in the circle and has to throw batting practice to the rest of the team but since the only other pitcher on the team is the starter, they don't have her throw BP because they're saving her. The last time she threw BP this is exactly what she did. She came home, really excited because she felt like she FIALLY got to show what she could do.
