Back on the dirt...
I have read MANY of FFS threads and comments here on DFP for many years. I have been rubbed wrong by some of his comments. But I have never seen him cross a line that would include banning. Does anyone know what happened here and can we get him involved on the forum again?

Agreed, FFS had nearly 15,000 posts and had brought a lot of good over the years to many folks who visit DFP. The way the hammer was brought down on him was IMHO an abuse of power in what should be an open forum. Asking questions about how a new product is being promoted, who's getting paid for it and why should be fair game and answered without such anger. Ban me if you must for voicing that opinion but DFP lost respect and got weaker that day.

FFS could be combative and somewhat condescending, but the value he brought overrides his shortcomings. Some suggested that whatever he posted was taken down immediately and so very few saw it. I find that hard to believe. I will agree and paraphrase Tatonka, DFP got weaker that day.

Agree with the sentiments here. I like his take on things. As well as his knowledge. Hopefully we will get a 3 strike rule or something. After all it is a softball forum. :)

Bring him back!bring him back! bring him back! I will sit down cross legged with my sign now. :)

I have always enjoyed my conversations with FFS. Him and a few others have helped me a great deal over the years. I really do not know the story behind why he was banned... All I know is that no matter how someone acts towards me, my reaction is completely under my control. If I react negatively, that is on me, not on him (or anyone else). It's no different than playing the game. Control what you can control, and don't worry about the rest. I'm sure the moderators have their reasons for doing what they did. But if I had a vote, I would say bring him back.

If we are voting, I'd say bring him back as well. Could come across combative at times, but enjoyed his posts.

I have known FFS for a very long time and he was one of the posters I trusted with video of my dd when she was growing up. At no time has he ever wavered from my request to keep our conversations private and we had a lot of those back in the day. I consider FFS a friend and would respectfully request that he be allowed to participate again.

I was told that he was banned because of a post that was deleted in which he made some personally disparaging comments about another poster(s), not necessarily because of his questioning the rules about product promotion, etc. I had the same questions/concerns about him being banned and asked the mods directly. Now, I have no way of knowing for sure, since I didn't see the alleged post. That's just what I was told.

FFS was the one who turned me on to DFP. I will always be thankful for that. I’ve grown in my knowledge of this sport in many ways because of this forum, especially hitting and pitching mechanics. I now know a couple other DFPer’s who’ve been a blessing to my life and my DD. I most likely never would have made those connections and relationships were it not for FFS suggesting DFP.

I have the opportunity to know FFS as well. My DD is blessed to have him as a hitting instructor and has been working with him weekly for almost 2 years now. He’s also graciously worked with my TB team as well and the girls really enjoy his instruction, knowledge, and approach.

I have the benefit of a personal relationship and interaction. No doubt he can ruffle some feathers.

He is direct. He questions. He challenges. And maybe sometimes it comes across abrasive. So are several others on this forum.

I also know “voice” in writing and especially on an internet forum is often left to the reader to interpret. I’ve read plenty on DFP where some have misinterpreted the black and white on the page and missed the voice/intent that was intended by the writer. That which some might find abrasive or direct may have been a genuine statement or genuine question. Being offended is a self-inflicted wound.

I’m not here to defend FFS. He certainly can speak for himself if he so desires.

The DFP community did lose someone who has great knowledge, loves the game, gives back way more than he receives, and challenges himself and others to think (Hansen principle). How sad for current and future DFP members that could have benefited from what FFS has to share.

I concur with Cannonballs comments/request.
