Coach defensive responsibilities...
Well the runner had long since crossed first, but we're trying to reinforce the "get the ball, touch the bag" instinct. Just a good reminder that sometimes when we say "field the ball, touch the bag/tag the runner" we might need to be a little more specific.- CoachCeetar

more "natural" motion or not, doing anything like that 230 times (plus warmup) in a row makes me nervous, strain wise. Pretty impressive though. That's 3 pitches per batter. The coaches are never paying attention either, or there just aren't enough coaches to be paying attention. imo if you want to played timed baseball (And not just time limit for field use reasons) then do so. no mound visits, strict pitch clocks and penalties. time limit on each inning. runner on third but only 2 minutes left in that inning? prepare for slow methodical walks. but there are so many...- CoachCeetar

if only there were some way to codify that direction/decision into some sort of more firm edict.. hmm. Until that's the case, it's 100% subjective at their whim. rule interpretations ARE NOT RULES. They change that interpretation all the time. You could call the ball changes if the catcher overthrows the pitcher, or underthrows the pitcher, and it rolls in the dirt.
