Pitching 700+ pitches in two days.

    Not from 43 feet!

I agree. I would like to see the box scores of those games. The most we had this year was a 127 pitch game.

Maybe they should add Most Pitches in a Game to the record book. Or Least Pitches. https://www.ahsaa.com/Sports/Spring/Softball/Softball-Fast-Pitch-Records

Pitching 700+ pitches in two days.

Just for argument, suppose a pitcher throws 150 pitches in a game. Sounds like a bad game first of all. Such a game should take about 2 or 2 1/2 hours. Back to back games with a half hour break in between about 5 hours. 300 pitches. What did the box scores of the OP games look like?

    Random Pet Peeves

So many baseball players being used as examples to explain how softball players should perform. Especially with so many very capable and successful softball players.

    Pitching lane

    Completely outside the line.

    Pitching lane

No. Completely out. About 8-10 inches looks like.

    Pitching lane

Watching Duke Boston College game. Jala Wright is landing with her stride foot totally outside the pitching lane. Is that legal? If so what are the lines for?

    Player safety when injured

I think EMS should have been called. Especially if she was bleeding profusely. Better safe than sorry. Insurance probably covers that call anyway. I would let my DD play, with the understanding that first aid would be immediate and appropriate; not 15 minutes later!

    Swinging under the ball

According to ChatGPT: Yes, it's possible to change a motor skill through practice, repetition, and focused training. This process is called motor learning, and it involves the brain adapting and creating new neural pathways to improve or acquire a specific motor skill.

    Pitching style, pitch learning priority

By master the fast ball would being able to hit locations consistently be a part of that? Meaning high, in and out and low, in and out.

    Pitching style, pitch learning priority

Amongst the pitching gurus that I’m aware of, Hillhouse, Pauly, Tincher, Scarborough, Balswick, (others?), do these all agree on the same pitching fundamentals? Also, what would be their must-learn pitches? Do all consider bullet spin a serious negative?

Are pitchers required to stay within the 24” lines?

My bad. I didn’t make myself clear. I understand the 24” rule. What I don’t understand is the 25” measurement. Why not 24” from beginning to end?

Are pitchers required to stay within the 24” lines?

Does anyone know the logic behind the rule?

Are pitchers required to stay within the 24” lines?

Learned something. Thanks Dabears17. My apologies Comp. Wonder what the logic is for 25”? My interpretation is that any part of the foot outside the line cannot touch the ground. I guess if football can tiptoe the line softball can also.
